Practical Nursing Admissions Requirements
Phase I Admission Requirements
Students must complete the following steps:
1. Interview with the Admission Counselor
2. Complete the Application for Admission to the Practical Nursing Program
3. Complete the Entrance Exam to the Practical Nursing Program (this exam can be scheduled with the Admission Counselor / scored)
4. Submit the Driver’s License or Government-issued ID
5. Submit Social Security Card
6. Submit High School Diploma or Transcript
7. Personal Statement ( scored )
8. Meet with Financial Aid Advisor and Complete FASFA
9. Submit approved Placement Scores.
Phase II Admission Requirements
Enrollment is on a competitive base. Each student’s exam scores, interviews, certifications, and former education are all scored and ranked. LBCI can only admit 36 students.
1 Submit current American Heart BLS Certification (CPR)
2. Submit your Personal Letter of Reference (scored)
3. Professional Interview with the Practical Nursing Team ( scored)
4. Submit all Current Certifications, Diplomas, and College Transcripts (scored based on diploma, degree, and certifications)
Phase III Admission Requirements
Acceptance letters will be sent out the first full week of August 2023 to the tip 36 students. If accepted, you have only 10 business days to return the letter along with the following documents. Failure to turn in all documents by the deadline noted on the acceptance letter will forfeit your acceptance to the program. LBCI will begin sending letters to the student placed on the waiting list.
1. Submit approved placement scores. The following exams are permissible as deemed by LSBPNE ( scored)
The following are approved admission tests, required for entry into a Louisiana practical nursing program: TABE, TABE 11/12, ACT, Accuplacer Classic, Accuplacer Next Gen, Compass, Asset. All scores must be no older than 3 years for consideration.
LBCI offers the ACCPUPLACER Next Generation on scheduled testing days. Students who wish to take this examination at LBCI must schedule and satisfy testing fees. Students may re-test two times for a total of 3 attempts. Test fees may apply. Scores will not be released.
1. Complete Final Enrollment Agreements
2. Submit TB Exam (if admitted another TB exam may be required prior to clinical rotations)
3. Submit State Background. This can be obtained from the Louisiana State Police.
4. Submit Immunization Records- See Health Status
6. Birth Certificate
7. Current Drug Screen (if admitted another Drug Screen may be required prior to clinical rotations)
8. Covid Vaccine and Booster or Submit a Medical Exemption form
9. Flu Vaccine or Submit a Medical Exemption form
Students will be notified of their acceptance into the PN program by letter via postal service and or via email. Once the letter is received, students will have 10 days to respond and sign their acceptance
