Practical Nursing

 

Williams Technical College’s Practical Nursing program is designed to offer a rewarding career in the healthcare industry. The Practical Nursing program is a 15-month program designed to prepare graduates to successfully sit for the NCLEX-PN Louisiana examination.

 

Program Goals

The goal of WTC’s Practical Nursing Program is to prepare graduates to provide safe, compassionate, nursing care. Upon completion of the program the graduate will be able to:

  • Possess the knowledge and skills for employment at the entry-level, in the field of study.  

  • Provide patient care and nursing procedures.

  • Attain personal and professional development as well as the ethical and legal awareness necessary for success in their profession.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

 The objective of our Practical Nursing Diploma Program is to provide our students with the appropriate didactic theory, and hands-on skills required and necessary to prepare them for a career as a practical nurse. A student within the program will be able to

  • Engage and have didactic, laboratory, and clinical experience.

  • To develop each student to his/her full potential by offering a wide range of high-quality nursing experiences by providing a constructive learning experience to meet individual needs and equal opportunity for all. 

  • Participate in a 1500-hour cohort program with a focus on biological sciences.

  • Complete the program with an 80% or better leading students to sit for state licensure examinations.

Admission Requirements

Practical Nursing Program Enrollment Guidelines

Williams Technical College (WTC) limits each class to a maximum enrollment of 36 students. Prospective students must follow the outlined admission process to be considered for enrollment.

Admission Process

Enrollment into the PN program is divided into two phases, both of which must be completed to be considered for admission. However, meeting the requirements for Phase I and Phase II does not guarantee admission into the program.

All submissions are scored, and only the top 36 applicants will be admitted. In the event that additional seats become available, WTC will maintain a waiting list of eligible candidates.
