Program OVerview
Williams Technical College’s Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) program is a program that will prepare students to work in a clinical setting assisting with various procedures as well as in the office environment. CMA is a comprehensive program that includes an externship focused on assisting the medical team with recording vital signs, taking medical histories, preparing patient and rooms for examinations, assisting with examinations, and explaining treatments and procedures to patients. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing instruments, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, and performing basic laboratory tests.
Along with the externship, students will gain classroom knowledge and develop a skill set in the areas of phlebotomy, EKG, EHR, medical office, medical terminology, and professionalism. This 600-hour robust program is filled with hands-on simulation, laboratory skills, and creative scenarios that assist in preparing students for the industry.
Upon completion, students are able to sit for the phlebotomy, Electronic Health Records, CMA, medical office, and EKG.
