Cardiovascular Phlebotomy
Program OVerview
Williams Technical College’s 900-hour Cardiovascular Phlebotomy provides training in 3 different areas, Phlebotomy, Electrocardiograph, and Medical Office.
The Phlebotomy portion of the program prepares students to become integral members of the health care team as they learn to collect, transport, handle, and process blood specimens for analysis; identify and select equipment; and recognize and handle issues such as infection control and contamination.
The Electrocardiograph portion of the program prepares students to become cardiovascular technicians to perform EKG readings, Holter Monitoring, Lead Placement, and Stress Tests. Technicians operate and maintain EKG machines to read a patient’s cardiovascular health and perform a series of tests to ensure accurate measurements are taken.
The Medical Office portion of the program prepares students to electronically enter patient information from the appointment stage to discharge. Student simulation using an electronic platform to schedule, refer, and enter progress notes for patients.
After completion of the program, graduates will receive a diploma in Cardiovascular Phlebotomy and will be eligible to sit for national certification in Phlebotomy, Electrocardiography, and Medical Office.
