Grievance Policy for Faculty and Staff

A grievance is a formal complaint made by a faculty and staff arising from an alleged action of the WTC or any of its faculty members, administrators, or staff. Such action is claimed to be unauthorized or unjustified and adversely affects the employee’s status, rights, or privileges, including actions based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, or disability.

Any team member who has a complaint shall make a reasonable effort to resolve the matter on an informal basis before initiating a grievance. However, a team member may request a grievance hearing by completing a grievance form WTC Grievance Form (jotform.com) on the WTC website. A grievance hearing committee will be organized and a committee decision will be presented to the grievance hearing committee. If the grievance is with the chief administrator, it is encouraged to submit the grievance form to allow such issues to be resolved at the campus level. However, if after the hearing, a team member may file a complaint with the accrediting body, Council on Occupation Education.

All grievances proceeding correspondence will be handled via email or otherwise documented and placed in a secure file. An electronic copy of all correspondence will also be maintained. Copies of this information will be placed in the employee’s official employment file.
